Its not uncommon to see these axle stubs break or get damaged during high load or extended service use. We see commercial, race and pulling trucks break these quite often.
The axle you receive is USED and may differ slightly from the picture. Bearing surfaces and spline conditions vary. These parts were removed from known good, operating cores. Its always best practice to replace bearings, snap rings, friction rings and seals during any major service.

There are some model year changes to the lock ring groove location on this shaft. Please compare to your original! Lock ring groove is 7/16" from the end on the splines.
