Allisons stock P2 planet carriers are known to get stripped as a result of poor tuning, high shock loads or high horsepower. Stripping can cause complete transmission failure and immobility. Goerends Allison 1000 P2 planet carrier snout is made of forged 4140 high strength steel to prevent spline twisting and stripping from to high torque engines and shift bindups.
DHD always recommends upgrading your P2 planetary if your truck makes over 800HP or if it gets used for sled pulling or drag racing.
